A Letter To My Son!

The title of this blog speaks for itself. This is a letter to my son. I wanted to post it online so that it could be achieved forever. This is something personal that I’m choosing to share with you all and I hope you guys enjoy it.

Hey Bub,

By the time you’re old enough to understand these words, you’ll be too old to want your mommy. But I want you to know how much I love you. I’m so grateful to have carried you. It wasn’t easy but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

By now you know how many of your siblings I’ve lost. Although I love and miss them, you are not a fill in. You are uniquely you, and I love you for you. I would have loved you regardless if they were here or not. But I want you to know because I’ve lost them I appreciate you more.

I never want you to feel like a fill in. You were conceived in love and I truly feel as if you were a gift from God. He knew when I needed you most and blessed us with you.

I want only the best for you. I want you to accomplish all your dreams and then some. I want you to be a man of character and a man with honor.

Never be afraid to stand up for what you believe in, even if you have to do it alone. But you’ll never be alone because I’ll always be by your side. I’ll always be here to hold your hand, to wipe your tears away and to be an ear when you need someone to listen.

I’m sorry you were born at this time. Because the world is filled with so much hate and anger. I wish I could shield you from it all, but I can’t. I wish I could keep all the tragedies that are bound to happen, but I can’t. Just know it’s okay to cry if it hurts. Don’t let your emotions dictate your attitude. Be the better person and don’t let pain make you bitter.

Make the world a better place with a small act of kindness daily. Never stop learning and never stop laughing.

I hope you have the love of books like me, and I hope you don’t become a sports fanatic like your father.

I want you to live. Look at the beauty of nature. See the world through your eyes and not through screens.

Trust your instincts and follow your heart. I hope you find love. When you find her, hold on to her and never let her go. Treat her right. Treat her with respect and shower her with love.

I’ve spent many hours watching you sleep because I’m still in awe of you. I love to watch you smile, especially when it’s directed at me.

I haven’t really slept since you were born, but one day I’m sure I’ll look back at those days with nothing but love. Every feeding, every diaper change, every bath, every play time, and every talk all mean the world to me.

But out of everything that I’ve said I hope I show you how much I love you. Not just by the words in this letter, but through my actions.

Know that everything that I have is yours, including my life.

I love you, Bub, with every bone and fiber in my body. I love you!

Love Mommy.
